Understanding Product Specifications
A guided tour of a Duc Toan product page: SKU, dimensions, materials, cushions, finishes, color previews and 3D models.
A product page contains a lot of information in a compact space. Reading it carefully helps you compare pieces, check that a design fits your space and ask precise questions. This guide walks through each part of the page and explains what it does and does not tell you.
Name, SKU and collection
Pieces in the same collection often share a name and style, for example a dining chair, an armchair and a lounge chair. The SKU is the code that identifies one specific item. It never changes when you switch the display language, so always include it, together with the product link, when you ask about a product.
Dimensions
Check the unit first, then the meaning of each value. Overall length, width and height describe the space the piece occupies; they are not the same as seat height, seat depth or the clear height under a table. Where a dimension drawing is available, use it to see exactly where each measurement is taken.
Commonly used reference values, which you should always compare with the actual product:
- dining tables are usually around 74 to 76 cm high, with dining chair seats around 44 to 48 cm;
- a gap of roughly 27 to 32 cm between seat and tabletop is generally comfortable;
- lounge chairs and sofas are lower and deeper, so they need more floor space;
- armchairs need to slide under a table only if the arm height is below the table apron.
Also measure your space, doorways, lifts and stairs, and remember the clearance needed to pull chairs out and walk around.
Materials, cushions and finishing
Read these three fields together. Materials describes what the main parts are made of, such as acacia or eucalyptus wood, aluminium or woven rope. Cushion describes the seat or back cushions if any are included. Finishing describes the surface treatment, such as an oiled wood or a powder-coated colour.
A material name alone does not describe performance. Rope, for example, does not identify a fiber, and powder coating does not identify the metal beneath it. If a detail matters for your project, ask for confirmation rather than assuming that another item in the collection has the same specification.
Photos, color previews and 3D models
Product photos show form, proportions and texture. On many products you can also open the variation editor: click a region of the photo, choose a material from the swatch library, hold to compare with the original and save a snapshot. Where a 3D model exists, View in 3D lets you rotate the piece, change part colours, adjust lighting and read model dimensions.
These tools are visual aids. Screens, lighting and image compression change how colours appear, and the swatch library is a site-wide reference: a swatch can be previewed on any product even if it is not offered for that product. Confirm the actual combination and look at physical samples when colour matters.
Product description and technical details
Below the summary fields, Product description explains the character of the design, how it is intended to be used and what makes it distinctive. Technical details, where present, gathers additional data that does not fit the summary fields. Read both before comparing products; a short field such as Materials may be explained in more detail there.
Units and conversions
Duc Toan works in metric units. If you plan in inches, convert carefully: one inch is 2.54 centimetres, so 76 cm is about 30 inches and 45 cm is about 17.7 inches. Round only at the end of your calculation, and allow a small margin where furniture must fit between walls or through a door.
Natural materials and handmade details
Wood is a natural material: grain, colour and small features differ from board to board, so no two pieces are exactly alike, and photos show a representative example. Woven parts are finished by hand, and the rhythm of the weave can vary slightly. These variations are part of the character of the materials. If uniformity is critical, for example for a large project, discuss it before ordering.
Collections and related products
Each product page links to its collection with the Discover button, so you can see matching chairs, tables and lounge pieces together. The You might be interested section suggests related designs, and Recently viewed lets you return to products you were comparing. Opening two product pages in separate tabs is a simple way to compare specifications side by side.
Comparing two products step by step
- Write down the SKU and overall dimensions of each product.
- Compare seat height and depth, or tabletop size and height, for the way you will use them.
- Compare materials, cushion and finishing, noting what still needs confirmation.
- Open the 3D model, where available, to check proportions from every side.
- Check how each piece works with the rest of its collection.
Protected products
Some products are shared only with selected partners and ask for a password. If you have received a link and password from Duc Toan, enter it on the product screen; access lasts up to 72 hours on that browser. If you see a protected product without having received a password, contact us.
Checklist before you ask
- SKU and product link for every item;
- measured space and access route;
- the material, cushion and finish combination you are considering;
- where the furniture will be used and how exposed it is to weather;
- any details missing from the page that you need confirmed.
